Snapfile — Privacy Policy

Snapfile does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any user data. Everything happens locally on your device.

What Snapfile does

Snapfile lets you drag to select a region of the current browser tab and saves it as a PNG file to your Downloads folder. The capture and the file are created entirely on your computer. Nothing is uploaded, sent, or shared with us or any third party — there is no server involved.

Data we collect

None. Snapfile has no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, no accounts, and no remote code. We never see your screenshots or your browsing.

Permissions and why they are used

• activeTab — to capture the visible area of the current tab, only after you explicitly trigger the extension.
• scripting — to show the selection overlay on the active tab when you trigger it.
• downloads — to save the PNG to your Downloads folder and, if you click the toast, reveal it in your file manager.
• storage — to remember one local preference (whether “refine before saving” is on). This stays in your browser via chrome.storage and is never transmitted.

Third parties

Snapfile does not use or transfer any user data to third parties. Saved screenshots live only in your Downloads folder, under your control.

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
